Personal development is the process of improving one’s own life by choosing to grow and evolve. It is a process of self-improvement and self-discovery that allows us to better understand how we show up in the world and our purpose in life. It starts by exploring our strengths and weaknesses, setting goals, and writing out a plan to reach them. Personal development includes making positive changes to improve our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. By engaging in activities that promote personal growth, we can become the best versions of ourselves and live a happier, more meaningful and more fulfilling life.
Personal development can involve improving one's self-awareness, developing one's self-esteem, developing one's emotional intelligence, developing resilience, developing better relationships and understanding one's personal values and beliefs.
1) Identify Your Strengths and Weaknesses: The first step in personal development is to evaluate your current skills and abilities. Do a moral inventory. Take time to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses. Become aware of any areas that you would like to improve or are in need of improvement. Keep the activities that you enjoy the most and which you are best suited to. This can help you to determine which areas you should focus on in order to reach your goals.
2) Seek Help When Needed: If you are struggling with this ask for help. I recently went on a 4 day personal development retreat. This was a lot of information and work all at once and left me lots of food for thought for me to process over the following few weeks. The benefits for me were astronomical.
3) Set your Goals: Setting goals allows you to focus your energy and efforts on achieving something. Write down your goals. Keep them achievable, specific, measurable and time-bound. Focus on both short term and long term goals. Keep them realistic and achievable and should be tailored to your individual needs. Once you have a goal in mind, you can develop a plan for how to achieve it. Setting goals focuses your energy on improvement and achieving.
4) Exercise: Exercise is an important part of personal development. It’s important to reduce stress and improve your mental and physical health.
5) Educate yourself: Reading is a great way to broaden your knowledge and perspective. It can help you gain new insights into yourself and the world. Try watching you tube channels on subjects you are interested in, they can be very informative
6) Find like-minded people: Having a support system of friends and family can help you stay motivated and on track with your goals.
7) Take Some Risks: Taking risks can help you to grow and develop. It can help you to push past the fear and stretch yourself gaining new experiences
8) Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your thoughts and feelings in the now. Practicing mindfulness can help you to become more self aware and keep you connected to yourself. Practice deep breathing to control your thoughts and bring them back to you.
9) Know that personal development takes time: Be gentle with yourself along the way. The journey of self discovery can be exciting and thought provoking. It can open wonderful doors you didn’t even realize you had.
10) Embrace it: Enjoy the journey.

Wendy’s words…… It has bought me great pleasure doing this blog for you. I have been working on personal development in one way or another most of my life. Sometimes when I have worked on something big it seems like I barely recognize the person I was. And that’s ok. The improvement is always a better version of me.
My wish is for you to take some steps to improve your life. I can assure you that taking time to work on personal development is very rewarding. There will be ups and downs and there will be awkwardness and fear. It is usually uncomfortable trying something new for the first time, just try it and before you know it will be easier.
